Hello there, Russian friends. I am J.R. Karlsson, semi-regular forum poster.
Unfortunately I do not speak any Russian, so sorry about that. ![]() Over twenty years ago I bought and scanned every English Conan pastiche. Some of these works were probably translated by you fine folk on cimmeria.ru. Some time ago I did a hatchet-job rewrite of Robert E. Howard's non-Conan material, resulting in Conan the Adaptable. It wasn't very good. This was translated by Vlad and published by you. I even got a copy! This thread is for original works only. No Howard, no adaptation of other authors, my writing and stories only. The first story is The Mists of Pictland, a short story that occurs between The Land of Misty Tsars by Vaclav Vagenknecht and Conan the Bold by John Maddox Roberts. It sort of handwaves how Conan ends up back in Cimmeria at such a young age despite clearly exploring the south and venturing with the Asgard in the north. My stories are completely free and written for my own amusement. Share and enjoy. |

Bravo! A high‑quality, colourful story (in places it’s right up there with Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, and John Gale). The only note that doesn’t relate to the story itself, but rather to the Chronology of Conan’s life. I’ve already done a sequel to the story of Václav Wagenknecht - Истаявшая мгла (The melted mist): http://forum.cimmeria.ru/showthread....F+%EC%E3%EB%E0 |

Greetings, Russian friends!
Attached you will find the story Wolf Mask Shadows, which is a direct sequel to my initial fumbling efforts. It is a larger story that is based on a synopsis in the book Conan the Bold, which talks about how Conan ranged the Pictish Wilderness with Tahatch. This story attempts to explain why in Crom's name a Cimmerian would spend any time at all with his hated foe, a Pict. It also chronologically links my previous story with Conan the Bold. It's a simple tale of two hunters, their survival on the border of Cimmeria, and their hunting down of a rival clan of Picts. There are no beautiful women, no treasure troves, and no evil sorcerers. It's a grounded tale about vengeance and survival for a change. AI was used for spelling and grammar purposes, and the original synopsis is back the late great John Maddox Roberts, of course. My next story will be a much larger one. A novelisation of The Horn of Azoth, based off the revised script for the movie that eventually became Conan the Destroyer. It is very different than that! |
