Yes, I think I shall be translating these and adding them to the chronology. I've been trying to decide whether to do it or not, but I think because they are technically based on originally published material, I shall include them. |

Brian Tolwell's work, while well-written, introduces time travelers from the future. The Blacksmith’s Daughter and Prediction are perfectly acceptable from a writing standpoint, but have a Cimmerian sorcerer and don’t feature Conan of Cimmeria at all, predating his life. Twice Born also has an evil Cimmerian sorcerer, flying in the face of Howard’s work. Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer are excellent movie adaptations, but both contradict Howard’s original character. Conan of Venarium has his mother still alive, but she died on a battlefield giving birth to Conan. The works of Nick Andrews introduce severe continuity errors and an alternate world called Volania populated by elves. Gray Tower is a random short from an unknown pseudonym that doesn’t provide any information about where Conan is. The works of Serge Negrash and Nick Harris are universally terrible. Sam Fellan’s Sea Witch is Karl Edward Wagner’s Kane series repurposed into Conan. Dimensions, Anyone? Is an amusing short piece set in the Hyborian Age but not featuring Conan. Flamen Mitrev's trilogy is incomplete and of disputable quality. Hunt for Crystal Lightning has time travellers from space. Ruler of the City is a rewrite of a Howard story already re-written by de Camp. The Polish and Bulgarian adaptations of Howard’s work are very bad. George Callahan’s Shadows of Hyrth was re-written under a different name and included in the chronology. Trepac’s Dareena trilogy is based on movie Conan by mentioning Thulsa Doom. Lady Death contradicts Conan of the Isles, as does La sonde et La taille. Conan and the Lesser Evil has no chronological anchor. Black Castle of Atramentos, while originally a Conan tale written by official Conan Properties author Andrew J. Offutt, was adapted into a parody, and then re-adapted. The works of Jess Evaile are repurposed originals that occur in Alternative Hyboria. The Paul Powers saga is worth reading about on Fantlab, if you fancy internet arguments. Dan Chancellor’s work is not regarded well. Costa’s Sting by Victor Yoner directly contradicts Robert E. Howard with regards to what happened to Thoth-Amon’s ring. The works of J.R. Karlsson and the Cimmeria.ru community are excluded. Feel free to add them in if you want.  |
